Lindsay Perth

Lindsay Perth is an Edinburgh-based Artist and Photographer. Canadian born, I have lived in Scotland since 1986. I've exhibited and curated artwork nationally and internationally and worked with arts organisations across Scotland for 18 years as a socially-engaged artist. My arts practice is interested in the tensions from moving boundaries and situations of change. This may be residencies in communities undergoing social change or artworks in a context where 'limbo' is a characteristic. My media is varied and interdisciplinary and includes moving and still image, socially-engaged art, performance, text-based work and installation. Recent work includes a public art commission for the Pennywell All Care Centre in North Edinburgh for NHS Lothian. The lights in the hand blown glass artwork respond to visitors and staff movements. The 52 glass pieces were hand blown by local residents. This is a final artwork for a two year residency with North Edinburgh Arts. In 2011-13 I was Artist in Residence at NHS Forth Valley until and produced artworks such as ‘A Sense of Someplace’ and the film ‘One Hundred Blinks‘.
