Custom Lane is a non-profit creative hub, dedicated to the advancement of exceptional design in Scotland for positive social, environmental and economic impact. As a valuable community facility, it provides a collaborative environment where world-class design meets enriching work, gallery and meeting spaces for remarkable people, projects and events. The programme of exhibitions and events at Custom Lane is expanding and roles are now available to join the community to contribute towards its growth and progression as a centre for excellence in design. We are looking for a small team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to provide front of house support in our gallery and events spaces in Leith. Volunteers will play an important role, meeting and communicating with our residents, increasing visitors’ enjoyment and understanding of the exhibitions and events, as well as providing support at the events we run here at Custom Lane. With access to workspace, facilities, peer support and activities, volunteers will become valued members of our creative community.

Job: Graphic Design Internship

Gallery 23 is currently searching for experienced and enthusiastic students in graphic design who would like to volunteer at a working art gallery. The gallery is affiliated with the English-Speaking Union Scotland, a worldwide educational charity. Our headquarters in Edinburgh includes an art gallery and performance space comprising two main rooms with a library that is used for small group lectures and similar activities. The gallery is located in a great location in the West End of Edinburgh, a five minute walk from Princes Street and Haymarket Station. Currently we host exhibitions, performances, lectures and film screenings. Besides helping to coordinate exhibitions and events, students would be encouraged to organise their own events in our space if they are so inclined. Interested students should contact me at the address below if they wish to be considered. Please include a brief description of themselves as well as their particular interests. Students well versed in social media would be particularly valuable. As it would be essentially a voluntary position, time and hours would be flexible with the exception of general meetings on Friday afternoons and event evenings on Friday evenings once or twice a month.
