Job: Marketing and Development Officer

Marketing and Development Officer at St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh. This is an exciting new post, concentrating on marketing, communications, fundraising and development activities. St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint a full-time Marketing and Development Officer. This is a new post, concentrating on marketing, communications, fundraising and development activities. Duties will include: • Marketing of the school, with a focus on pupil recruitment • Publicity for school events, such as concerts and masterclasses • Production of news items and press releases • Management of the school’s annual newsletter • Arrangements for photographs for news items and stock images • Social media updates and website maintenance • Alumni development • Fundraising including donor engagement • Maintenance and use of the school’s development database • Research relating to grants and sponsorship opportunities In addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills, marketing, development and/or fundraising skills and experience are highly desirable for this role. The successful candidate should be highly organised and have advanced IT skills, ideally including website content management and desktop publishing. Experience with development databases would be beneficial although training on the school’s database (WCBS PASS) will be given. The post-holder should be able to work independently and as part of a small team. This is an exciting time in the school’s history and the post will offer diverse and interesting work for the successful candidate. St Mary’s Music School aims to offer the highest possible standard of education and musical training in an inspiring, inclusive and supportive environment, and all staff are expected to support the pupils and encourage them to achieve of their best. This is a full-time, permanent post of 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday; reduced hours may be considered for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.
