Puppet Animation Scotland champions puppetry, visual theatre and animated film. To support this mission, we run the Creative Fund. Scottish-based artists over the age of 18 of whatever discipline (theatre, dance, sound, film, spoken-word, visual arts, etc…) can apply to the Creative Fund to explore elements of their creative and technical working practices which relate integrally to puppetry, visual theatre and animated film, or any combination of these art forms. We welcome applications which articulate clearly and concisely how specific, time-limited research and development will enable you to explore a new, vital, exciting creative concept and/or enable you to enhance your current working practices and learning. What we fund: - Exciting ideas - Submissions from artists and companies at all stages of their careers - Proposals from established artists who wish to develop their existing skills sets in new and intriguing ways - Your time, and the time of your collaborators, to begin research and development of new creative ideas - Professional training opportunities, in the UK or abroad, which will help you to develop your current technical knowledge and expertise further - Artists’ fees – we expect all personnel involved in your project, including yourself, to be remunerated at minimum industry rates - Rehearsal space hire - Technical and equipment costs or hire, where these relate closely to the successful exploration of your creative ideas or the gaining of specific skills and expertise - Master class and workshop fees, and related travel, accommodation and per diem costs For 2019-2020 Puppet Animation Scotland will award £12,000. Our bright and spacious gallery designed by Reich and Hall architects hosts a dynamic exhibition programme featuring the best in contemporary photography from around the world. The gallery can accommodate up to 50 people comfortably for seated events or up to 150 for receptions, networking events or launches. Curatorial staff would be delighted to provide an introductory talk about the current exhibition for your guests. Our production facilities are located in the basement of our building. The digital training suite comprises 8 Apple iMac computers complete with Adobe Creative Suite software and MacOS operating system perfect for hosting a variety of training. Our photographic darkrooms are Scotland’s largest open access darkrooms and only dry-to-dry colour print processing facilities, we offer 4 private suites and one large communal darkroom fully equipped for processing and printing both black and white and colour film. Our flexible space located on the first floor of the gallery can host exhibitions and is ideal for seminars, workshops, screenings and talks. It can also be hired for meetings for up to 6 people at a discounted rate. All areas of the building are fully accessible by wheelchair including lifts and toilets. Guide dogs are welcome. There is wireless connectivity throughout the building for easy Internet access and we offer a range of AV equipment, technical support and hospitality at additional cost.
