A note from the Creative Edinburgh Board:
We’re delighted to announce that Anna Gormezano Marks has been appointed Acting Executive Director of Creative Edinburgh, the social enterprise that aims to bring together and help grow the city’s creative community, providing space for creation, collaboration and connection.
Anna, previously Director of Community & Mentoring, has been a core member of our Creative Edinburgh team for over 4 years. During that time she has been helping the creative community to find the support they need through new resources and in particular driving forward a successful mentoring programme.
As part of the ongoing development of resources, this year Creative Edinburgh launched a new digital skills programme – Raise Your Game – which is supported by the Edinburgh Futures Institute and Creative Informatics. Initiated and led by Briana Pegado, the new programme was developed by Creative Edinburgh’s Event Producer Katherine Warren, supported by the rest of the team. It focuses on digital tools, data and future-proof working models, with 8 workshops delivered by expert partners. This is part of our ongoing work to help creative people connect and thrive, and the programme also includes resources for peer support, building skills while strengthening relationships across the Community.
Commenting, Jim Hollington, Chair of Creative Edinburgh, said:
“The work of Creative Edinburgh to support and grow our community of creatives has never been more important, as we continue to face into the challenges of the pandemic and what that means for everyone. The team at Creative Edinburgh should be proud of how they have adapted and continue to rise to the challenge, providing valuable support. We held our annual awards in November, recognising the inspiring work of creatives across Edinburgh, and also demonstrating their resilience and the positive impact their work can have in these challenging times. We have never been prouder to be part of this community.”
“We’re delighted that Anna has taken on this leadership role and together with the Board of Creative Edinburgh, I am very much looking forward to working with her and supporting the Creative Edinburgh team who are passionate about ensuring our creative community thrives.”
Anna’s appointment follows the departure of CEO Briana Pegado in November, having led the team in implementing a number of initiatives during 2019/20 to support the sustainable growth of the creative community in Edinburgh, particularly those who are starting out. This has included the launch of the Connected Innovators funding stream, and ensuring that our annual awards went ahead virtually this year, gathering our community despite the circumstances.
Anna and the team are now looking forward to progressing a number of exciting initiatives we have planned for 2021.
