The Creative Edinburgh Awards & Birthday Bash has been taking place since 2011, and while we usually gather in some of our city’s coolest venues to celebrate an inspiring shortlist over drinks, dancing and sweet treats, this year continues to be a year like no other.
For 2020’s Awards and 9th Birthday Bash, we’re going virtual, inviting you all to join us from the comfort of your living rooms. While we may not be together in body, we will be in spirit and can’t wait to showcase the shortlist, announce the winners live and see the night out with a kitchen dance party!
Here at Creative Edinburgh, we only know one way to celebrate our birthday, and that’s with the love, support and partnership of amazing local businesses doing inspiring work. We wanted 2020 to be no different, so we’ve been picking our brains on how we can make this work for our virtual get-together.

Sweetdram Sampler Box
Who are Sweetdram? Sweetdram was founded in 2014 by Andrew MacLeod Smith and Daniel
Fisher, who met in 2011 while studying for their Master’s degrees in brewing and distilling. After the course, the pair kept in touch to flesh out an idea they had for a modern drinks brand focused entirely on original flavour instead of conventional categories and repetitive trends. In 2014, they started Sweetdram.
Based inside a massive industrial warehouse in Sighthill, Edinburgh, the Sweetdram distillery is an immersive contemporary space. The production room, located behind pink doors, houses their custom-made copper pot still, which was designed specifically for their flagship release, Escubac – a spicy, citrusy juniper-free botanical spirit for modern drinkers suffering from gin fatigue.
The rest of the site has been transformed into a non-profit events space and community hub called 54EP. Both Sweetdram and 54EP are proud sponsors of the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award and fervent supporters of the arts, creative and music sectors in Scotland.
The Creative Edinburgh Awards 2020 is delivered in partnership with Sweetdram and 54EP, and we’ll be live streaming from their venue space on Thursday 12th November!
What’s in the Party Pack? The Sweetdram sampler set includes a dram of three spirits - Escubac, Smoked Spiced Rum and Whisky Amaro - and a Litho booklet, delivered in a Custom Sweetdram box. Find out more about the products here.
How to enjoy the Sampler Box? Head to the Cocktails page of Sweetdram's website to get top tips on how to serve your samplers. From Old Fashions to Negronis, Daiquiris to simple pours, select your fave cocktail and get your ingredients in so you can mix, shake and serve right in time for the Ceremony!
Mademoiselle Macaron Mini Selection Pack
Who are Mademoiselle Macaron? Mademoiselle Macaron is the creation of Rachel Hanretty who lived in Paris and learned how to make the patisserie at the Alain Ducasse Cookery School in France. Rachel saw the popularity of the macaron firsthand but moreover she saw the way in which the macaron was respected as a luxury treat in revered and traditional cafes on the Champs Elysées and other upper end areas of Paris. She wants to bring the experience of being in those cafes and patisseries back to Scotland one macaron at a time.
From their kitchen in Edinburgh there is a team of wonderful Mesdemoiselles and Messieurs who work with a purpose of bringing a little bit of Paris to you. Every single macaron is made by hand with the freshest ingredients and passion.
What’s in the Party Pack? You’ll receive a mini-pack of assorted size and flavour macarons, fresh from the Mademoiselle Macaron kitchen.

Awards Postcard Prints
Who designed the Awards Artwork? Each year, Creative Edinburgh gets an artist on board to design the artwork and identity for the Awards. For 2020, we enlisted the help of Sarah Bissell from The Gutter Press to commission bespoke artwork for all 10 of the Creative Edinburgh Awards 2020 categories.
Working with artists with a connection to Edinburgh, each artist was given creative freedom over their work, working with our selected colour palette. The result - 10 beautiful pieces of art which perfectly represent our diverse, resilient and incredible community!
To see the artworks and hear more about the artists' process, visit here.
What’s in the Party Pack? A limited-edition mini-print of one of the artworks! Printed in square postcard size, each Party Pack will contain one print. Whether you post it to a friend or keep it as a memento of the Creative Edinburgh Awards 2020 is up to you!
