Can you tell us about yourself and your creative background?

Sure, I'm a motion graphic designer by trade but I like to play with different disciplines. Recently I've been investing time on improving my illustration skills and I've opened my own online shop. Back in Italy I studied cinema and tried to make my way in as a writer, but I always had an interest in becoming a director. Ultimately I moved towards digital media when I went back to university in Edinburgh.

What gets your creative juices flowing?

I like seeing what other creatives are doing, from animation to advertising, whenever I see an interesting piece of work it pushes me to improve my skills and try new techniques. Though the best ideas come from the rare moments of peace I manage to put aside during the week.

When did you start working in motion graphics and can you tell us about the work you're involved with at the moment?

I got into motion graphics in 2009 when kinetic typography was very popular and it felt like it was good fun to make. I still remember firing After Effects up for the first time and having no idea what I was doing. At the moment I'm working on a new series for the CBBC and a pilot for an online show.

What is the most interesting part of your day?

When I focus on my daily project, drawing characters faces on post-its. I've been going strong for more than a year now.

What makes Edinburgh a good city to be based?

I fell in love with it as soon as I had my first walk on Princes St. back in 2008, I just couldn't go back home.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting up a creative business or pursuing a creative career?

Focus on the principles over the tools at first, then invest a lot of time learning the tools and putting the principles into practice. When you feel ready, jump in.
