Behind the Design

21 October 2024

As we gear up for the 2024 Creative Edinburgh Awards Ceremony, taking place at Central Hall on Friday 15 November, we’re excited to share this year’s vibrant campaign that reflects the spirit of our Awards and the incredible creative community in Edinburgh!

Creative Edinburgh Membership fees are reinvested directly back into the community. Thanks to income received this year, we’re proud to be able to work with a talented freelance designer to bring the 2024 Awards to life.

This year, we’re delighted to be collaborating with Adrian Borque, a local digital illustrator who has been working as a freelance designer in Edinburgh since 2021.

About Adrian Borque

Adrian has been drawing and creating art for as long as he can remember, and it remains his greatest passion. His style is heavily influenced by cartoons, comic books, and street art, resulting in illustrations that burst with colour and humour.

Adrian specialises in digital illustration, completing a UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design at Edinburgh College in 2019, followed by an HND in Visual Communication: Illustration. Since then, he has worked with various clients, producing artwork for magazines, bottle labels, album covers, clothing, social media, and more.

“Edinburgh is such a beautiful city, and it inspired me to get back into drawing and illustration. This campaign is my opportunity to say thank you to the city that has allowed me to follow my passion.”

The Campaign Inspiration

Adrian drew inspiration for the campaign from his own experiences in Edinburgh. “It’s such a beautiful city, and it inspired me to get back into drawing and illustration. This campaign is my opportunity to say thank you to the city that has allowed me to follow my passion,” he shares.

The campaign celebrates ‘the creatives who shape our city’ and utilises vibrant colours and playful shapes to represent our community. The goal was to create something joyful that encapsulates the energy of the Awards, bringing life to every aspect of the campaign and the event itself.
