Tell us a little bit about Techscaler and how it applies to the creative community.
Techscaler is a Scottish Government programme delivered by CodeBase, developed for creating, developing and scaling tech startups. We connect you with expert industry operators and experienced mentors, teach you world-class playbooks and courses, and host spaces and events for people in startups to come together.
Freelance creatives may not realise that they can benefit from startup initiatives, but anyone running their own business can use the same applications and processes as a more traditional ‘tech startup organisation’ to test and validate their ideas and get their business off the ground.
What is the Startup Basics programme and why is it a good place to start your journey?
Startup Basics is a free online self-paced programme available to everyone via Techscaler’s online community platform, designed to demystify startups, and teach you the fundamentals of building and growing them. It’s suitable for people exploring a career in startups or for anyone with an idea or an interest in startups who’s not sure how best to get started.
The course contains not just guided reading and activities, but also loads of clips of interviews with Scotland-based startup founders in which they share their experiences, reflections and advice from their own startup journeys. When we talk to learners, they regularly cite these insights as the most helpful and insightful parts of the course!
