Capturing the Magic - Photography & Videography at the 2025 Creative Edinburgh Awards

19 February 2026

The 2025 Creative Edinburgh Awards was a night to remember - a celebration of Edinburgh's vibrant creative community, filled with inspiration, recognition, and joy. Behind every great event are the visual storytellers who capture those fleeting moments of triumph and connection.

This year, we were incredibly fortunate to work with two exceptional creatives: photographer Jakub Iwanicki and filmmaker Paula Nahr, whose combined skills brought the energy and emotion of the evening to life.

Meet the Photographer - Jakub Iwanicki

Jakub Iwanicki is an Edinburgh-based commercial photographer and videographer whose focus and fascination lie in people, products and places. His ability to create high-quality, striking stills has enabled him to work with some of the UK's biggest brands, organisations, and creative agencies.

With over a decade of experience working both as a freelancer and as part of a creative team at one of Scotland's top agencies, Jakub brings a unique perspective to every shoot. He's a focused and highly skilled creative with a talent for producing story-driven content, excelling at putting his subjects at ease whether working on location or in a studio environment.

In Jakub's Words:

"I helped Creative Edinburgh's team with capturing some headshots and photography for their annual awards event. It's been a great experience working along such a positive bunch. The event was well organised and fun to attend and see from behind the scenes. I really enjoyed seeing all attendees and award winners have such a great time and it was a pleasure to capture them during the event."

Meet the Filmmaker - Paula Nahr

Paula Nahr creates cinematic films with social impact - her work is experimental, intimate, and rebellious, often exploring themes of women, identity, and becoming. Born in Colombia, raised in Aruba, and professionally shaped between the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe, her work is deeply informed by migration, womanhood, and lived experience across cultures.

Paula spent over a decade producing documentary work focused on urgent social issues, including human trafficking, violence against women, and youth vulnerability. In 2011, she founded Switch Foundation in Aruba, a social impact organisation using documentary film as a tool for awareness, education, and advocacy.

Since relocating to Edinburgh in 2020, Paula has continued to develop her practice through experimental filmmaking, portraiture, and poetic visual storytelling. Her work blends documentary sensibility with an intimate, auteur-driven visual language, exploring themes of women, identity, trauma, and becoming.

In Paula's Words:

"As a female filmmaker, it was a privilege to document the 2025 Creative Edinburgh Awards - a vital celebration in a city where creativity is a force for good. My focus was to capture the authentic joy and impact of award winners who work ethically to build a more conscious and creative Edinburgh. This collaboration perfectly aligns with my passion for telling stories that drive positive social impact, reinforcing my commitment as a cinematographer to amplify the voices of those shaping our community for the better."

Watch the Night Unfold

Paula has created a cinematic video capturing the spirit of the evening. From the anticipation before the ceremony to the celebrations of our award winners, her work tells the story of a community coming together to recognise excellence and innovation.
