As we wrap up the latest edition of VTF Creative Skills Academy ‘Raise Your Game’, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the journey of 28 creatives who participated in the programme. Over five weeks, they’ve engaged in expert-led sessions, gained practical insights, and built valuable connections to help propel their creative careers forward.

Thanks to Festivals Edinburgh, we have been able to offer sessions completely free of charge to over 500 registered attendees across five carefully curated events and discussions delivered between 2022 and 2025. Throughout this series, every one of Edinburgh's eleven major festivals has attended or contributed to the Making Festivals Happen event from Edinburgh Fringe to Edinburgh Storytelling Festival.

We’re excited to announce that Creative Edinburgh has successfully secured Multi-Year Funding from Creative Scotland for three years 2025-2028. We are extremely grateful to Creative Scotland, as this critical support will enable us to focus on what we do best as an organisation, allowing us to continue nurturing and investing in Edinburgh’s thriving creative community.

Our exciting and comprehensive skills development programme, specifically designed for creative freelancers and sole traders is back for 2025! VTF Creative Skills Academy “Raise Your Game” is a FREE skills development programme that focuses on helping Edinburgh-based individuals who wish to work in creative industries to develop the necessary skills and confidence to secure employment or project work in the future. 

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), stands as one of the most disruptive technological advancements since the inception of the internet. The CREA-TEC project addresses the challenge of guiding responsible innovation in the development of AI-assisted tools for the creation and consumption of creative content. 

CREA-TEC is led by Dr Caterina Moruzzi, Chancellor’s Fellow in Design Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, and the creativity technology company Adobe. The project will last 18 months, from May 2024 to October 2025.

The festival is run by the Scottish Refugee Council, Scotland’s national refugee charity that supports thousands of men, women and children every year as they rebuild their lives in Scotland.
