Artist - Creative Workshops

National Museums Scotland

We are looking for an artist who has experience of running workshops for the public, a knowledge of heritage and an interest in the museum’s collection. National Museums Scotland is looking to programme workshops that engage adults on a deeper level with our world-class collections. We are looking to commission artists to run a workshop (e.g. 11:00-16:00): - Workshop will take place in the museum’s purpose-designed Learning Studios* between October 2024 – March 2025. - Workshop should cater to c.16 adult participants. - National Museums Scotland will manage the administration process for each workshop and will provide practical support on the day of the workshop. We plan to run four workshops, each one by a different artist. Through the course of these workshops, we will gather participant and artist feedback to inform later workshops, with a view to continuing these in future, if successful. We are therefore open to all artforms, approaches and techniques. National Museums Scotland are open to everyone and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds, irrespective of sex, gender identity, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation or age. We will assess applications based on alignment with our strategic aims including diversifying audiences, addressing climate change, exploring colonial histories and legacies and engaging with Scotland’s material heritage, and connecting these to the objects and collections in our galleries.
